Today is a really emotional day for me and my family. Today marks the anniversary of my husband's death. It marks the grief struggle and journey I have experienced is now 10 years old and still going strong. I went with a little different episode today and shared a portion of a coaching session with my friend Lynlee. She was actually coaching me on a block I have been experiencing. She was helping me get out of my own head and show up. I have been feeling that lately, I need to retreat. I have felt like is have been "too much" and I overshare. I have been feeling- why does anyone want or need to listen to me. She helped me find some words that I needed to say to myself and in turn, I think you needed to hear them too.

I am plagued with perfectionism. It's not even like I believe I can be perfect. I know it's an illusion...yet it still stops me. What could become possible if you put down the stronghold that keeps you from your purpose? That's what today's episode talks about...you may not suffer from perfectionism (I'm an Enneagram 1- it's what I do best ok- attempt to appear like I have it all together- when I KNOW I do not) ;) But it's when we put down our strongholds that God can use us and we are able to step into our purpose. We all do it...ok...I won't speak for you. I know I do it. I give myself legitimate reasons to not grow, to not heal. I give myself legitimate excuses to stay right where I am. I give myself outs. Well, no more my friends! God does NOT want us to stay where we are. Living "overwhelmed" or "stuck" should not be the norm! There is nothing worse than going through something that really shakes you to your core- and then someone minimizes what you are going through because someone's story is "worse". I talk all the time about grief- it's what I do. Grief comes with SO many experiences than just loss of a loved one. Losing a love one is SO SO hard for sure. There is no question. But we don't know what other people are going through. We do not know how their circumstances have compounded over time or how the hardships they are facing impact their life, their world. I talk about grief and being broken-spirited, but I want you to define what grief looks like for you. As a society we need to start talking about grief. We can't give permission slips for some and not others. In today's episode I respond to a few comments I have received about talking about grief of losing a job to grief of losing a person. I explain why I talk about it like I do and why I think it should be talked about. Listen in!

In today's episode I share some stories and personal revelation about gifts of grief. I open up a little about my life and some of the crazy experiences I have had that have been sponsored by grief and how I handled them (some with grace- others not so much!) But we have to get out of our own minds and our own way when it comes to grief. We have to allow the exprience to shape us, mold us, teach us, help us see life in a completely differnt way.
