We think our lives portray them without our effort. And sometimes it does... BUT most of the time, we cannot determine someone's values by the way they spend their day. Not because they don't have values but because they do not intentionally choose things that represent them!

Motherhood is definitely a sacrificial calling. No one will discredit that. AND it is important to not go numb to yourself. It is okay to have ambitions and drive..and want more than to be just a caregiver...(notice I didn't say just a mom- there is no such thing as JUST a mom). It's time to start to look at who you are inside and OUTSIDE of motherhood! As your kids age the way they need you changes...you GET to show them the way. As they discover who they are, it is important to know who you are. It is okay to embrace your strengths, desires and dreams- in fact it HELPS them by modeling how they can do it for themselves!

Hey hey! I hope you all (or ya'll as my daughter now says) had a wonderful Easter. I look back at the past year and I see how much God's hand has been on my family's life. Something amazing happens when you start to recognize God's hand on your life. And for the most part, its the hindsight that you can see it. Most of the time in the midst of the event or trial (good or bad) it is hard to see His hand.
Today we are diving into our last Unhook Yourself episode. I hope you enjoyed them as much as I did. I realized I could extend this series forever- there are so many things that we can release ourselves from and the freedom would ensue for SURE! I thought it was appropriate to end with unhooking yourself from doing things the way they have always been done. So many times we get in a routine that turns into a rut. Routines are great but if we are doing things simply because its always been done- its time to shake things up and make some changes. One step- STOP BELIEVING the lies that you aren't capable of growing and changing! You are fully capable and it is not too late!!! Let's DO this!

It is uncomfortable to grow and change. I mean, as I get older, my knees are feeling the change and are getting really uncomfortable. Lol Sorry- It's true. Not quite the change and growth I'm talking about on the episode today. So many times we value others' opinions over our needs. Don't do that! When God is highlighting something to you- when He is asking you to grow or change, we HAVE to put down other people's opinions. Yes, even our friends and families' thoughts. Now it is important to have wise counsel (important and necessary), AND what I'm talking about is if you are called to grow. When we are creating, shifting, and becoming who God created us to be, sometimes others get uncomfortable. There are many reasons for it- most often it is because you are ROCKING THE BOAT! You are shifting their expectations and it makes them uncomfortable. It is OKAY- GROW ANYWAY! Want to know more...listen in!

Hey hey! I am super excited about today's episode. This is something that I had to grow through for YEARS! For YEARS I allowed the things in my past to decide my actions for the future. I talk about my fear of public speaking as an example...but let's face it...the real obstacle I had to release is the death of my husband. I did NOT want to forget (I still don't), AND I was afraid that if I freed myself from it- if I "unhooked" myself, then I would forget or others would think it still didn't matter. Well, friends, it does! I'm about to hit the 11-year Heaven's Day, and it still matters! What in your past still binds you? What decision or thought? What circumstance or fear? Today I explore why we need to unhook ourselves from it. Let's dive in!

Hey Friend! Today I had a special message for you in my heart. Honestly, I didn't even plan it- I just turned on the camera and went with what God was sharing with me. As many of you may know (if you have been listening to the podcast for awhile) I have been on a journey toward restoration and healing for a very long time. Well before my husband's death. Well, next Tuesday will be 11 years since my husband's passing. 11 years of single parenting it, dealing with deep grief, and figuring out life NOW.
I wanted to share some encouragement about your journey. I wanted to remind you that you matter- your story matters. Who you are and who you are becoming matters! Friend! Do not discredit YOU story. It may not look the same as mine- in fact thank God it doesn't because we need to hear YOUR story and see your impact.
So that's what I have for you today! You matter, friend!

Hey hey! Today we are diving into another episode of the Unhook Yourself Series. So often, we "hook" ourselves to old stories and ways of doing things. We are so focused on what we know we do not give ourselves permission to do things differently. In today's episode, we dive into unhooking from the how. Wouldn't it be great if we knew how things would always work out? If we knew how to take the next step or how to make the right decisions? Now for the big question- wouldn't it be nice to know HOW to get what we want?
Unfortunately, life doesn't work like this. We follow steps and recipes...we follow what SHOULD get us what we want, and we either find out we didn't want that or it didn't work for us. The other thing we do is focus so much on our lack of "knowing how" that we are paralyzed. When we release the how and give ourselves the power of creativity...amazing things happen. When we focus on being rather than doing...we can shift and discover a whole new way of doing things.
