We all love routines, even if we think we don’t. Our brains are wired for routine, predictability, and familiarity. We want to know what to expect and how to show up in situations. And like most things in life…once we get comfortable with the path we are on…a wrench is thrown in, and we have to make a change. Sometimes, big ones. Today I talk about routines through the eyes of a Mom getting her kids ready for school…but the strategy works for any situation! Listen in!

#240 Mastering Decision-Making: A Framework for Clarity and Purpose
Thursday Aug 15, 2024
Thursday Aug 15, 2024
We make THOUSANDS of decisions every day. Most are subconscious (thankfully), and we don’t have to initiate them in order to make them. Can you imagine the energy it would take to breathe throughout the day intentionally, and then we would be exhausted at night?
Our brains are wired to make decisions. Why do we find it so difficult to make the decisions that are important to us? Why do we experience decision fatigue and procrastinate making choices because we don’t want to pick the wrong decisions?
Friend! We can make it easy on ourselves! In today’s episode, we dive into a decision-making framework that will take the pressure off and help you know the right direction to go.
Give yourself some grace- we won’t always make the “RIGHT” choice- but with this framework, you can make a quick and informed ruling that will help us move toward the outcome we seek. Let’s do this!
Ready to take action?
- Book a Call with Me!
- Set a time on your calendar right before our call to take a moment and breathe. This is the only preparation you'll need. It's that easy!
- Join the call and allow your heart to be heard and seen.
Key Takeaways:
- Decision Fatigue and Clarity: Tami shares personal experiences with decision fatigue, particularly during a home-building project, and highlights the importance of having clarity about available options to reduce indecision.
- Three-Component Framework: To improve decision-making, Tami introduces a framework consisting of:
- Core Values: Identifying and understanding one's top five core values to guide decisions.
- Seasonal Priorities: Recognizing the current life phase and its priorities to make relevant decisions.
- Core Motivations: Understanding the underlying motivations behind decisions, using tools like the Enneagram personality framework.
- Implementation Commitment: The framework requires a commitment of time and effort to understand core values, evaluate current life seasons, and reflect on motivations.
Journal Question:
Think about a recent decision you had to make. What were your top three core values that influenced this decision? How did your current life priorities affect your choice? Finally, what was your main motivation behind the decision?"

🌟 Have you heard the saying, "Your life is as good as your thoughts"? It's so true, but let's be real—those pesky negative thoughts can be relentless, right? Well, guess what? You're not alone! Our brains are wired with a negative bias to keep us safe, but that doesn't mean we have to let those thoughts control us.
How many times have you been told, “Just think differently,” or have been hard on yourself because you keep having the same thoughts repeatedly? What if I told you that it’s not your fault…AND simply reframing your thoughts is not the key to lasting mindset change? In today’s episode, I share why the traditional mindset shift of “just think something different” or “just be more positive” is not working for you! Reframing is a powerful tool- but it is not meant for lasting and transformational change! Let’s dive in!
Ready to take action?
- Book a Call with Me!
- Set a time on your calendar right before our call to take a moment and breathe. This is the only preparation you'll need. It's that easy!
- Join the call and allow your heart to be heard and seen.
- Limitations of Simple Thought Reframing:
- Simple thought reframing offers immediate relief but does not lead to deep, transformative change.
- It fails to address underlying beliefs and behavioral patterns that drive emotional responses and actions.
- Deep-Seated Beliefs and Patterns:
- Core beliefs are often formed early in life and serve as protective mechanisms.
- Superficial thoughts do not confront deeper beliefs, such as feelings of unworthiness or inadequacy.
- Genuine transformation requires confronting and rewiring these foundational beliefs.
- Emotional and Physiological Responses:
- Thoughts trigger emotional experiences, not the other way around.
- Addressing underlying beliefs can reduce anxiety and other emotional responses.
- Techniques beyond mindfulness and emotional regulation are needed for lasting change.
- Behavioral Change and Habits:
- Sustainable mindset change requires transforming behaviors and habits, not just thoughts.
- New behaviors must align with desired beliefs about oneself.
- Developing new habits takes time and effort, often longer than the commonly cited 21 days.
- Indicators for Deeper Work:
- Recurring negative patterns, inner resistance, self-sabotage, and strong emotional reactions suggest the need for deeper work.
- Emotional triggers like fear or shame often indicate underlying beliefs that need attention.
- Beliefs and Their Validity:
- Beliefs are thoughts associated with emotions that have been reinforced over time, not inherently true.
- Scrutinizing and challenging the validity of beliefs can lead to new, empowering beliefs.
Journal Question:
Think about a situation where you felt anxious or unworthy. What deeper belief might be causing these feelings? Write about this belief and consider how it has affected your actions and emotions. What new, positive belief could you adopt to replace it? How can you start to change your habits to support this new belief?

#233 Don’t be an Egg Thief: 5 Steps in Staying True to Yourself
Monday Jul 22, 2024
Monday Jul 22, 2024
What would you do if you found an egg in the middle of your floor? A whole, real, fresh egg? You would question it, right? But then you remember you have kids, so you don’t question it very long. Well, we found an egg in the middle of our floor, and the kids have been at camp for days…so it wasn’t them…
In today’s podcast, I dive into a topic that I think is important to acknowledge, recognize, and talk about. It happens to all of us, and if we aren’t careful, it could cause us to feel guilty or—worse—work harder than we need to because we are not in alignment with who God created us to be. It’s about the slow fade.
I mentioned the song “Slow Fade” by Casting Crowns (I don’t know how I didn’t remember the artist!)
The slow fade…how we start off with the best intentions, characteristics, boundaries, values, habits, priorities, motivation…on and on…and then we decide that it’s okay to break it one time.
Ladies- when we are doing God’s work its important that we stay connected to Him and put in rumble strips and recognize when we are getting off track. Its going to happen- but the faster we catch it the less we have to adjust to come back to it! Let’s do this!
